Procedure for pet relinquishment:
Pet relinquishment requires a consultation with the intake specialist. After the initial discussion, a meet-and-greet with the pet is scheduled. Based on that meeting and kennel availability, it is determined whether the pet can be accepted into the care. Note that this process may take a month or longer.
A fee to accept the animal:
No fee.
Preference for the age of the animal:
Prefference is for animals under 7 years old. However, this depends on the individual animal, as they have accepted older animals in the past.
Solutions used in situation of going over capacity:
It is a limited-admission humane society, meaning it does not accept every animal. Strays, lost or abandon animals are not accepted.
Placement of the animals:
Kennel housing and foster care are used, depending on the animal’s needs and availability of foster homes.
Euthanasia:
They do not euthanize animals due to space or time constraints. However, humane euthanasia will be considered in cases where an animal is suffering from a medical condition that cannot be treated, or in instances of severe behavioral issues where the animal poses a danger to people or other animals and cannot be safely placed in the community.
